Tehran, Jan 11, IRNA
Deputy Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran for International and Planning Affairs Mohammad Saeedi said Friday that the UN nuclear watchdog chief Mohammed ElBaradei is visiting Iran to talk on a new round of Iran-IAEA relations.
Saeedi told IRNA, "Regarding Iran's active cooperation with the IAEA and settlement of basic and key issues on Iran's nuclear case, relations between Tehran and the Agency have entered a new phase."
The senior IAEO official said the result of cooperation and settlement of essential issues is normalization of Iran's nuclear issue and its handover to the competent international authoritative body, i.e. IAEA, from the UN Security Council.
Saeedi said the IAEA director is visiting Iran at the invitation of IAEO head, Reza Aqazadeh, to meet a number of senior Iranian officials.
ElBaradei arrived in Tehran early Friday morning heading a delegation and was welcomed by Saeedi at Imam Khomeini International Airport.
ElBaradei last visited Iran in April 2006 and for the first time in March 2002.
