A legislator said here Saturday that Iranian and European members of parliament underlined the need for continuing negotiations on Iran's nuclear program.
Reza Talaie-Nick told IRNA that 11 Members of European Parliament (MEPs) and a number of Iranian lawmakers held a joint meeting where they agreed that the main strategy to settle the nuclear dispute is constant negotiation.
The member of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission added that the visiting MEPs and their Iranian counterparts underlined that Europe should play a more active role in defusing the US pressures on Iran's nuclear issue.
Talaie-Nick noted that the two sides also held talks on various issues including human rights in Iran, Europe and other countries as well as consolidation of ties between European nations and the Islamic country.
The Iranian side also underscored the need for the European Parliament to adopt more transparent stance on certain terrorist groups active in Europe, he added.
They also called for reciprocal confidence-building on issues such as nuclear technology and human rights instead of making unilateral efforts in this respect, the lawmaker said.
