Envoy: Stop carrot & stick policy, threatening tone towards Iran
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Dec 1, IRNA
Iran's IAEA envoy Ali-Asghar Soltanieh said on Saturday that continuation of the `carrot and stick policy' and the "threatening tone" towards Iran would be unconstructive.
In an interview with the Belgian daily `Le Soir', Soltanieh pointed to Iran's extensive cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency despite reference of its nuclear case to the UN Security Council. "Over the past two months we went even beyond the Additional Protocol and implemented the agenda related to Iran in the Agency."
He said Russia, China and the NAM states, through Tehran's full cooperation with the IAEA, were availed with stronger opportunity to prevent continued intensification of the situation and avoid even the confrontation which might result from prolongation of the process for investigation of the case in the UNSC.
"(Through our extensive cooperation with the IAEA) We helped our friends Russia, China and NAM states and did not make them disappointed," he said.
