Iran's IAEA ambassador Ali-Asghar Soltanieh said here Friday that the US suffered a severe setback at IAEA Board of Governors quarterly session.
"Recent meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors showed highly weakened position of the US. No resolution was in the session and it ended with a balanced conclusion. This shows that despite all its pre-meditated plans, the US failed to lure support of even a tiny portion of the participants so as to issue a statement in support for an anti-Iran resolution," Soltanieh said in an exclusive interview with IRNA.
Soltanieh said conditions are now in Iran's favor and as a proof to the claim reference should be made to the conclusion and lack of a statement in the meeting.
He said that after four years of the IAEA's engagement in the case and related political problems, it is now proved that all claims raised against Iran have been baseless.
The two-day meeting of the Board of Governors ended on Friday with summing up report of the periodic chair of the Board. The conclusion voices all countries' support for implementation of the Iran-IAEA plan of action.
The conclusion also points to good progress in implementation of the plan of action and says, "majority of countries believed that the ongoing process and challenges should be settled through dialogue and talks."
It also urges Iran and other parties to show their goodwill for settlement of the problem through negotiations.
The IAEA Board of Governors chairman's conclusion has also made reference to views of some countries on implementation of the additional protocol and implementation of the UN resolutions by Iran.
