Iran's Permanent Ambassador to IAEA Ali-Asghar Soltaniyeh said here Friday any time IAEA Chief touched on Iran's new activities to solve ambiguities during past four years the US brought up new accusations, creating obstacles in the way of problem solving.
Soltanieh said at his press conference, "On that basis, both the Agency, and Iran were getting constantly engaged in solving issues that used to divert their attention from the main topic of the P1 and P2 centrifuges and the main source of the spotted palliations, while that issue could have been solved two years ago."
Soltaniyeh further elaborated, "For instance, any time that the Americans claimed that Iran was pursuing military objectives at Parchin nd Natanz nuclear sits, surveying about the authenticity, or faultiness of those claims took between six to twelve months of the Agency."
Iran's IAEA Envoy emphasized, "I am hereby asking you to focus on the roots of this crisis. The problem began when signs of pollution were spotted at Natanz Nuclear Facilities. At that time Iran emphasized that the pollution is not due to our activities and that its main source is abroad."
He added, "Since Iran's general policy has been cooperating with the IAEA, we gave the Agency sufficient time to pursue its technical surveys and research works, and based on that mentality, we also agreed with the EU troika (Germany, Britain and France) to suspend our enrichment activities voluntarily till the agency would approve of our claims on foreign source of the pollution."
Soltaniyeh said, "In the year 2004 the Agency, based on its own surveys, confirmed our claim and announced that the spotted pollution had foreign sources, and that meant that Iran's dossier could have been closed in 2004, but why are we still here? I tell you the reason why. It is because the US has kept on putting forth new baseless claims, keeping the agency busy with our file."
Soltaniyeh added, "The United States takes advantage of the Agency, and is constantly after getting the UN Security Council involved in the matter, in a bid to ruin the professional reputation of the IAEA."
