IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Nov 15, IRNA
Iran-IAEA-MP
A lawmaker said on Thursday that the new report of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Mohamed ElBaradei would prepare grounds for return of Iran's nuclear case from the UN Security Council to the Vienna-based agency.

Javad Jahangirzadeh told IRNA that given political pressures diverted the path of Iranian nuclear dispute from IAEA to UNSC, but the new report would be effective to thwart the pressures.

Pointing to the fact that Tehran has exercised full cooperation with the international community, he added that comprehensive reports of Iranian nuclear activities to the agency and its inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities have led to positive results.

According to the agreement reached on August 21, Iran and IAEA agreed to put on the top of the agenda the cases of plutonium, P1 and P2 centrifuges, contamination source, metal uranium document, polonium 210 and Gach mine, he said, adding that they have so far closed the cases of plutonium and contamination in Karaj warehouse.

Iranian and IAEA officials have held several rounds of talks on P1 and P2 centrifuges, and Tehran has addressed questions in this respect.

Jahangirzadeh also noted that Iran expect the agency to declare that Tehran has clarified ambiguities about the nuclear program.

He noted that ElBaradei has recently announced that Iran is not after military use of nuclear energy.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has made all efforts to prove transparency of its nuclear activities away from exaggeration and cover-up, he added.

Tehran expect other parties to follow up constructive and positive attitude in this regard, he said.

Jahangirzadeh, who is member of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, underlined that appropriate attitudes will help expand cooperation on nuclear issue.

Referring to the fact that numerous countries including China and Russia are opposed to the US unilateral approach towards Iran, he said that a distinctive group seeks to swallow the world, but another movement calls for a balanced methodology.
