President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here on Wednesday said issuing resolutions against Iran's peaceful nuclear program by the United Nations Security Council was a mistake.

Addressing a large group of local people gathered at Birjand's main stadium, he added, "The resolutions were issued on the basis of false reports and therefore they have no credibility for the Iranian people."

The enemies and ill-wishers of the Iranian nation should know that the threats, pressures and sanctions will have no use, he said adding, "The Iranian nation would not give up its nuclear rights even one iota."

Certain bullying states which are against progress and development of the Iranian people have been creating obstacles in the way of development of the Islamic Republic of Iran under various pretexts such as confidence-building in the past few years, he said, stressing that those countries are trying to cease Iran's peaceful nuclear activities.

President Ahmadinejad further emphasized, "Iran's nuclear activities are thoroughly peaceful and are going on under the full supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)." He advised bullying powers who hinder Iran's progress and development "to give up misbehavior towards Iran and be friends of the Iranian nation".

Referring to the US unilateral sanctions against Iran, he said, "The sanctions will be of no use for them." They should know that the Iranian people attach no importance to the sanctions, the Iranian president added.
