Vaeedi: Tehran welcomes partnership in enrichment projects

Tehran welcomes any contribution to its nuclear enrichment projects in other countries but no condition demanding suspension of enrichment is acceptable, said an Iranian nuclear official here on Saturday.

Deputy Secretary of Supreme National Security Council for International Security Affairs Javad Vaeedi told reporters that Iran is continuing to defend its uranium enrichment rights.

Asked about Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal's proposal on formation of an enrichment consortium in an impartial country, Vaeedi said, "As long as we are fulfilling our international duties and assignments, it will be natural for us to call for observation of our rights."

He said, "Our absolute policy is based on continuing our peaceful nuclear activities and as long as such activities are verified, our peaceful enrichment will continue."

Such ideas can be raised if they honor Iran's rights, said Vaeedi.

He noted that Iran had already submitted a plan for formation of a joint consortium for enrichment in its own territory.

He stressed that such ideas would not disturb Tehran as long as they are not in contradiction with each other.
