Deputy Head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization for International Affairs Mohammad Saeedi hoped here Monday that Iran and the IAEA would finalize the issue of P1 and P2 centrifuges in this round of negotiations.

Saeedi made the remark while talking to reporters at Mehrabad International Airport following the arrival in Tehran of Deputy Chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for Safeguards Olli Heinonen.

Heinonen is to hold a fresh round of talks with Iranian officials within the framework of Iran-IAEA August 21 agreement.

He will hold the new round of talks today (Monday) with Deputy Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Javad Vaeedi who heads the Iranian team.

"If any outstanding issue remains about the P1 and P2 centrifuges, we will sum up the case in the next few days before the IAEA Director-General Mohamed ElBaradei presents his report," Saeedi said.

He added that Iran and IAEA have so far had two rounds of detailed talks on P1 and P2 centrifuges during which explicit negotiations were held by the two sides.

"The file on plutonium has been closed and the IAEA presented its evaluation on the issue in September. No question has remained in this regard," Saeedi reiterated.

He expressed hope that the two sides will reach a clear conclusion on P1 and P2 centrifuges in November.

ElBaradei is to release a new report on Iran-IAEA cooperation in November.
