Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini on Monday condemned the anti-Iran claims of French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner.
"At a time when the issue of Iran's peaceful nuclear activities was removed from the agenda of the EU ministerial session recently, Kouchner's claims are not only in contradiction with EU's macro policies on the Islamic Republic of Iran but are also aimed at questioning credibility and competency of the International Atomic Energy Agency," said Hosseini.
He said it seems that Kouchner has forgotten general policies of the EU.
He added that using convulsive words is contrary to the historical, cultural and civilizational dignity and position of France.
Alignment of such words with the futile strategies of the US officials indicates the influence of others' unrealistic insinuations and false information and it would not serve interests of
France.
As for Iranian government officials' recommendations to French companies and businessmen, Hosseini said the economic institutions and companies of both countries are free to decide on their interests.
"Most evidently, the traders and owners of industries and companies seek their own sustainable and fundamental interests and will not link their interests with such superficial statements." Hosseini said alignment of French officials' comments with stances of the domineering powers would harm credibility of France in the minds of public opinion worldwide, especially in the Middle East.
"We hope that such statements are superficial and do not reflect France's realistic and strategic points of view."
