President: IRGC has blossomed out on strong sapling of Islamic Revolution

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Tuesday that the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) emanated from principles and nature of the Islamic Revolution to safeguard the country and the Islamic values.

He said in his address to nationwide conference of IRGC commanders that the national defense force is at the service of international peace and security and welfare of the human community.

Elaborating on the nature of the Islamic Revolution, the president said that it opened the eyes of the humanity to the reality of the universe, Imam Mahdi (May God Hasten His Reappearance).

"The IRGC, which emerged from foundation of the Islamic Revolution, has become a strong sapling, serving the international peace and tranquility."

The president said that the IRGC sees propagation for the Islamic teachings and resistance to oppression as its major responsibility.

He recalled the sacrifices the IRGC made during US-backed eight-year imposed war on Iran (1980-1988) and campaign against the Western-backed terrorist groups in Iran, saying that the IRGC has been the flag-bearer of international campaign against terrorism.
