MP advises nuclear watchdog not to be influenced by US policies

An Iranian MP advised the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors to avoid being influenced by the US wrong policies.

MP Hamid-Reza Haj-Babai told IRNA that the UN nuclear watchdog will pass through a crucial and sensitive time in the next 48 hours, and its positive decision on Iran will portray its special status before world nations.

Haj-Babai, who is a member of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, expressed hope that the Board of Governors will successfully pass this great test.

He however warned the Board of Governors that if it fails to reach a positive conclusion, it will regret its act.

"The recent report by the IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei is his best report on Iran over the past few years," the MP said, adding, "for this reason he has been exposed to heavy pressures over the past few days."

"ElBaradei's report indicates that the US pressures cannot overshadows realities, as witnessed by the IAEA and the whole world," Haj-Babai said, adding that the US envoy to IAEA has recently adopted contradictory stances in this regard.

He said that ElBaradei has taken firm stance on the US baseless allegations about Iranian nuclear program and the grounds have been prepared for the IAEA Board of Governors to announce the Iran nuclear case closed.
