Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said here Saturday that Iran's nuclear case should be returned to the International Atomic Energy Agency's Board of Governors.
"As the IAEA Director General Mohammad ElBaradei's report refers to, the two sides have agreed on a suitable framework. The report briefly but explicitly and transparently highlights the point under the title of remarkable progress in Iran's resolve to continue its peaceful nuclear activities and expand relations with the Agency.
"Continuation of such measures would further encourage public opinion in many countries to think of the return of Iran's case to the Board of Governors," Mottaki said in a joint press conference with his Ghanaian counterpart Nana Dankwa Akuffo-Addo.
Mottaki said there might be certain parties that might be dissatisfied with such cooperation but these countries are exactly those who had promised to end war in Iraq and bring democracy to Iraqis in three months.
The top diplomat referred to desire of the above-mentioned countries to fill their arsenals and said, "They are providing their taxpayers with long bills to secure budget. Due to the same reason, they wish to create a tough atmosphere in the region and Iraq. Failure to garner public vote of confidence in former elections and probability of its recurrence in future elections have disappointed them. So they are trying to cover up their defeat by blaming other states so as to achieve their objectives."
He went on to say that the past five-year experience in the region has shown that violence and unilateralism as well as bullying cannot serve as a good basis for settlement of problems.
"Those planting wind harvest storm and those promoting extremism in the region suffer the most from the phenomenon. The Islamic Republic of Iran recommends these countries that the way out of the crisis is revision of their wrong policies."
Elsewhere in his remarks, Mottaki said Iran accepted talks with the US just to help the Iraqi government in Iraq.
"Today, the performance of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Iraq is clear. Do the occupiers favor the legal government of Iraq or a scenario is being shaped in the CIA and Pentagon? Are you the main cause of regional insecurity or regional states? Had the Islamic Republic of Iran not helped the Iraqi people, how would the Iraqi nation and government have viewed Iran?" questioned Mottaki.
He proposed the occupiers to hold a referendum in Iraq to enable the Iraqi people to express their opinion on regional states and the occupiers.
He said that making good on past failures and policies in Iraq can serve as an essential solution to the ongoing problems there.
