Iran-IAEA-Soltaniyeh
A senior Iranian nuclear official said here Thursday the new report of Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Mohamed ElBaradei was a historic document on Iran's peaceful nuclear activities.
Iran's permanent representative to international organizations, Ali-Asghar Soltaniyeh, made the remark while speaking to IRNA after ElBaradei presented his report to the IAEA's Board of Governors about Iran's nuclear case.
"The report reflected Iran's political resolve to cooperate with the IAEA to settle outstanding issues," he said.
Soltaniyeh added, "As ElBaradei stressed once again, no diversion towards forbidden activities has been witnessed in Iran's nuclear activities."
The envoy said closure of plutonium 239 case was among the most important points of the report, adding, "The US used the ploy to create a political atmosphere (against Iran) during the past four years.
"Now, it is proven that Iran's previous remarks have been confirmed."
Iran's Ambassador to the IAEA added, "The agency's inspections should be conducted in an ordinary way. This positive step by Iran, which has been clearly mentioned in ElBaradei's report, shows that there is no justification for involvement of any other body such as the UN Security Council in the case."
