Mashhad, May 16, IRNA
Iran-US-Supreme Leader
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday that upcoming talks with US on Iraq security have nothing to do with Iranian principles and logic reaffirming commitment to aspirations of the late Imam Khomeini.

Ayatollah Khomeini said that religious leaders played very significant role in campaign against colonialism and dominance of foreign countries in the past two hundred years of Iranian history.

Addressing a number of theological students and clerics in the holy city of Mashhad theological schools, the Supreme Leader said the spiritual leaders shoulder grave responsibility to meet the needs of society in all scientific, social, political fields and in terms of guidance to the right path.

The Supreme Leader ruled out direct talks with the current US Administration on bilateral issues and said that the talks at the ambassador level in Baghdad will focus on reminding the occupying power of its responsibility to stop the bloodbath in Iraq and restore security in the country.

"How is it possible to hold talks with US arrogant, bullying, expansionist administration and its impolite, bold and demanding officials?," the Supreme Leader asked in reference to the Republican Administration internationally known as war mongers and representative of the US military industries.

"The talks on Iraq was supposed to be held early last year but the Americans misbehaved. However, this time they have extended a request for direct talks."

"Iran's policy on avoiding direct talks with the current US administration is still in force until they change their behavior."
