Iran-Hosseini-Negotiations
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini said on Sunday that continued talks between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Group 5+1 is the only logical solution to put an end to Iran's nuclear standoff.

Speaking to reporters in his weekly press briefing, he said talks etween the two sides would prevent the issue from becoming more complicated.

On arrest of Manager of the Middle East section of Wilson International Institute Haleh Esfandiari, he said she is an Iranian national and her case should be handled by judicial officials.

On the current visit of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to the United Arab Emirates and Oman, he described the visit as very significant and said during the visit expansion of mutual relations, regional developments, expansion of economic and industrial cooperation, increasing the current volume of trade exchange, and promotion of political and cultural ties would be discussed by the two heads of state.

He described the recent visit by Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki to Scandinavian countries as very 'significant'.

On recent allegations raised by US President George W. Bush and his Deputy Dick Cheney about Iran's developments, he said their comments indicated to what extent the US administration is confused.

Contradictory comments made by US officials prove that there is no unified decision making process in that country, Hosseini said.

The US seeks to foment crisis, instability and intimidation in the region and the Islamic Republic of Iran is strongly opposed to this policy, he pointed out.

To a question on Iran following up the idea of forming a military alliance with the Persian Gulf states, he said, "We have always underlined the need to broaden security cooperation among regional countries and this could be achieved through signing of a collective security pact."

On the latest status of five kidnapped Iranian diplomats in Iraq he said despite efforts made for release of the Iranian diplomats, the US administration has not agreed to release them, he said.

The Americans have promised to allow families of the five kidnapped Iranian diplomats to meet them through Red Cross, he pointed out.

The American troops have violated all international rules and conventions, he said, adding that Iran is to legally pursue the case via international institutions.

On recent talks among Iran's foreign minister, the UN secretary-general and Iraqi officials on release of the five kidnapped Iranian diplomats, he said the Iraqi officials have expressed hope for release of Iranian diplomats.
