Iran on Friday rejected the summing-up by the preliminary conference on the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), saying it was "unbalanced".

Iran's Ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Ali-Asghar Soltaniyeh made the remark while speaking to IRNA on the sidelines of the NPT conference.

The two-week conference on the NPT ended in Vienna on Friday without reaching a summing-up.

Different countries including member states of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) objected the 10-page statement presented by the chairman of the conference. Their opposition resulted in removal of the report from the IAEA's documents.

"We did not assess the report as balanced and based on realities.

We opposed annexation of the report to the conference's documents," Soltaniyeh said.

He stated that during meetings with the NAM member states, they opposed the conference's summing-up and had the same stand as adopted by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Head of the Iranian delegation to the conference added the adopted stance was a victory for Iran's diplomacy which was achieved through full coordination with the countries sharing the same view.
