European Union Foreign Policy chief Javier Solana is expected to brief the EU Foreign Ministers' Council on Monday on relations with Iran following his meeting with the country's top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani in Ankara on 25 April.
EU diplomatic sources told journalists in Brussels Friday that Solana is expected to have further contacts with Larijani.
The ministers will briefly discuss the Iranian nuclear program on which the EU applies a double-track approach.
On the one hand, the EU supports the UN Security Council process whilst at the same time backing efforts to find a negotiated long-term solution.
The EU Foreign Ministers' Council is not expected to issue any conclusions on Iran.
Speaking in the European Parliament on Monday, Solana had said that he is expected to meet Larijani again in a few weeks time.
Meanwhile, EU foreign ministers will meet with their counterparts of the Arab League Monday afternoon in order to discuss the Middle East Peace Process.
Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa and foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Morocco, Jordan, Syria and the Palestinian Authority are expected to attend the meeting.
Iraq, Somalia, the upcoming EU-Russia summit on 18 May, Uzbekistan, the Black Sea region are also on the agenda of the 2-day Council meeting.
