Iran-EU-Talks
The venue and date of future talks between Iran's Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani and the EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana have not been determined yet, a SNSC official said here Tuesday.
Deputy secretary of SNSC, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli made the remark while speaking to IRNA.
In response to a question on certain news published about venue of Larijani-Solana talks, he said, "These are media speculations.
"Based on an agreement reached between the two sides in Ankara on April 25-26, the two sides agreed to continue talks in the next two weeks but date and venue of negotiations have not been fixed." Asked about Solana's remarks that Iran is expected to suspend its enrichment activities by the next round of talks, he added, "We have repeatedly told Solana that suspension of enrichment is not on Iran's agenda.
"Tehran will never accept suspension before talks, during talks or as outcomes of talks ."
Rahmani Fazli was asked about a news published by a British newspaper which quoted British and US officials as saying if Iran suspends its enrichment activities, a proposal on establishment of a consortium inside the Iranian territory will be discussed.
"We have repeatedly declared, either officially or through media, that we will not accept any precondition including suspension of enrichment," he replied.
He stressed that establishment of a consortium inside the Iranian territory was a proposal which has been made by Tehran and said proposals which include suspension mean playing with public opinion and deceiving it.
"On the one hand, Western states exert pressure and threaten Iran while holding talks with the country and on the other hand they make such proposals through media," he stated.
