Iran-5+1-Russia
The G5+1 has started contacts to coordinate next steps with regards to Iran's nuclear program and consultations are to be held at the level of political directors of the countries' foreign ministries on the issue.
A Russian diplomatic source, who wanted not to be named, told the Tuesday edition of the Moscow-based daily Nezavisimaya Gazeta that the consultations would serve as a preparatory to the upcoming meeting of the G5+1 foreign ministers.
"We are preparing the preliminaries for the next stage of contracts with the Iranian officials," he added.
The G5+1 ministerial meeting was to be held in Germany late April but was postponed due to some reasons.
The Russian daily then quoted European diplomatic sources as saying that European troika is now holding clandestine intensive talks with Iran.
It said the talks are confidential in absence of the EU Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana.
It quoted experts as believing that the confidential form of dialogue with Iran is more effective than open talks and Russia too favors the secret nature of talks with Iran.
"Moscow believes no publicity should be made on the talks which might have no result."
