No link between unreal US stance, Iran's legal approach: Hosseini

Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini on Friday rejected any connection between the US' unrealistic and propaganda stance with an aim of diverting public opinion and Iran's legal approach, which is based on the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Hosseini was speaking in a reaction to claim of the US assistant of secretary of state on production of nuclear fuel in Iran.

"Scientific progress made by Iranian scientists and the elite have emanated from Iranian nation's resolve for country's sustainable development, welfare and promotion.

"Inappropriate and irrational remarks are insufficient and doomed to failure when confronted with such a public demand and national consensus of Iranians," he said.

Pointing to Iran's potential to produce industrial nuclear fuel in line with the country's peaceful nuclear activities, the spokesman said, "Sound assessment, the US statesmen's following logical and realistic approaches, respect for the Iranian nation's demand for restoration of their inalienable nuclear rights and recourse to well-calculated and legal strategies would, while addressing Iranian nation's demand, provide a suitable opportunity for finding mechanisms of removing possible ambiguities and non-diversion within the NPT framework."
