Iran's Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO) on Tuesday strongly criticized the Russian partner, Atomstroiexport (ASE), for over 8 years delay in completion of Bushehr power plant.
The IAEO said in a statement that according to the latest agreement with the Russian contractor, the Russian firm should deliver nuclear fuel for the power plant by March 31.
"Based on the contract, the Russian government had undertaken to complete the project by July 1999 which has been delayed for five times and with commissioning it in September 2007, it proves an eight-year and three months delay.
"Iran has paid the cost of the project on schedule and the remaining part of the payment which makes up dlrs 12.7 million was also paid on March 1, 2007 in advance to help the contractor speed up delivery of the power plant.
IAEO said that Iranian government and nation expect the Russian government to fulfill its commitments and deliver nuclear fuel for Bushehr nuclear power plant on schedule (March 31, 2007).
