Larijani: Russia should abide by its commitments

Tehran, March 13, IRNA
Iran's top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani regretted Tuesday that Russia has delayed completion of Bushehr power plant and said Russia should abide by its commitments.
"The situation (Russia's delaying commissioning of the project) shows there is no firm nuclear fuel guarantee worldwide," said Larijani in a press conference after a meeting with Iraqi vice-president Tariq al-Hashimi.
Asked about Russia's conditioning completion of the project on Iran's enrichment suspension, Larijani said, "We have not received any such message from Russia yet. We are in consultation with Russia on the issue."
As for impact of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's visit to New York to attend the Security Council meeting on the nuclear case, Larijani said the president has some enough reasons for his decision to attend the meeting.
"I can not judge about it now, because the core and peripheries of the issue are not yet clear," said Larijani when asked whether the president's presence in the UNSC session can be effective regarding the fact that the meeting is a protocol and due decisions had already been taken.
