Tehran, March 11, IRNA
Deputy Head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO) Mohammad Saeedi said here Sunday that the technical and legal grounds are ready for sending fuel to Bushehr nuclear power plant by the end of March.
The remark was part of an interview on the sidelines of inaugural ceremony of the project on production of Molybdenum-Technetium generator.
According to an agreement signed by Iran and Russia in September 2006, the nuclear fuel required by Bushehr nuclear power plant is due to be dispatched to Iran by the end of March 2007.
He added that if the Russian partner fails to supply the nuclear fuel by the end of March, the issue will lose its technical and legal aspect.
Saeedi, who visited Moscow at the head of an Iranian delegation on Wednesday to solve the financial problems of Bushehr nuclear power plant, said, "The financial and technical assessment of the power plant project have been included in the inked agreement, according to which, it is due to become operational by September 2007." Turning to the commitments of Russian government to send fuel to Bushehr nuclear power plant and put it into operation, he declared Iran's readiness to pay some of the due funds earlier than the agreed date to accelerate the project and facilitate its commissioning on schedule.
