The Islamic Republic of Iran is opening the gates of its nuclear facilities for tourists in a bid to show the peaceful nature of its nuclear programs, an Iranian tourist official announced in Berlin on Friday.

Speaking with IRNA on the sidelines of this year's ITB tourism fair, the chairman of Tehran's Tourism Union, Akbar Ghamkhar said, The government has paved the way for foreign tourists to tour Iranian nuclear installations to witness first hand Iran's peaceful nuclear activities.

Ghamkhar stressed that Iran's four seasons climate and the unique hospitality of its people is one reason for foreign tourists to visit Iran.

Meanwhile Iran is also planning religious tours for Muslims, Christians, Jews and Zoroastrians from all over the world in an effort to visit their holy sites.

He also pointed to the possibility for foreign tourists to experience the life-style of Nomads in Iran, enabling tourists to have sleep-overs in tents.

Ghamkhar urged German companies to help develop Iran's tourism industry which is undergoing a privatization process.

Some 11,000 companies from 187 countries and territories, among them more than 40 Iranian tourism firms, are attending the 41st ITB in the German capital.
