The UN nuclear watchdog chief Mohamed ElBaradei said on Monday that dialogue is the sole possible option to find a comprehensive and durable solution to Iran's nuclear problem.
"I remain convinced that only through negotiation can a comprehensive and durable solution be attained to the Iranian nuclear question," ElBaradei said, according to a copy of his speech to the Board of Governors meeting made available to reporters.
ElBaradei hoped that conditions would soon be prepared for resumption of talks between Iran and the related parties.
"I earnestly hope that conditions will be created soon for the resumption of negotiations between Iran and all relevant parties," ElBaradei said.
He said the IAEA's investigation into Iran issue is exceptional contrary to other cases of research by the Agency.
Elsewhere in his remarks, ElBaradei notified the board that he will be travelling to North Korea to discuss how to monitor the state's promised dismantling of its nuclear facilities.
A spokeswoman said the two-day trip would begin on March 13.
ElBaradei will report to the IAEA after his return, with a special board meeting expected in Vienna later this month as board approval is needed to authorize inspections, a diplomat said.
