Deputy Head of Iran's Atomic Enery Agency Mohammad Saeedi, reacting to the latest UN nuclear body chief's report on Iran, said Iran sees suspension of enrichment contrary to its rights within NPT and international regulations.

He told IRNA on Thursday that Tehran has accordingly been unwilling to comply with UN Security Council's Resolution 1737 to suspend enrichment activities.

UN nuclear body Chief ElBaradei Thursday evening presented his report on Iran's nuclear activities to UN Security Council and his agency's board of governors, in which he said Iran has not stopped its enrichment activities.

Referring to part of ElBaradei's report that resolving issues in this case needs more cooperation on part of Iran with the agency, Saeedi said Iran has always voiced its readiness to address the remaining issues after working out a suitable framework. he also said that Tehran believes that handling the remaining issues is possible if the case is transferred from the Security Council to the UN nuclear agency.

Saeedi said that the report has referred to the point that Iran has provided the agency with sufficient access to its plants for supervision, which proves that Iran has been complying with NPT and Safeguards agreement, showing no diversion in its previous and present activities.

He asserted that since the report by a competent authority denies any legal and technical diversions, the US argument to resort to the 7th chapter of the UN charter on danger to world peace and security is baseless in terms of legal and international regulations.

Saeedi said that ElBaradei in his report also admitted that there has been no seperation in nuclear substances in defiance of Iran's legal obligations, refuting again the US claims in the past two years about plutonium seperation. Saeedi added that this part of the report clearly shows the political nature of the US smear campaign against Iran.

Deputy head of Iran's nuclear agency referred to another part of ElBaradei's report in which he has announced that his agency has strengthened its supervision over Iran's nuclear facilities during recent months, installing new cameras and overseeing activities in Arak research center and other sites.

Saeedi said that the IAEA report also confirms the fact that Iran has been fully acting in accordance with the Agency's charter, Safeguard agreement and NPT and thus reporting Iran to Security Council has been an illegal and politically motivated action.

He remarked that the report clearly shows that the only way to find a solution to the issue is through negotiations and comprehensive understanding.
