IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Dec 28, IRNA
Iran-IRGC-Commander
Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi said on Thursday that the Islamic Republic of Iran abides by Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and protocol of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

He said that the enemies are aware of Iranian commitment to NPT, but, they are afraid of economic progress of Iranian nation.

Their major concern is that they are anxious to see the Islamic Republic of Iran becoming a regional superpower.

The IRGC commander described the current developments in the region and the entire world as very sensitive and determining.

He made the remarks in a meeting with university lecturers at Baghiyatolah medical university.

The Islamic Republic of Iran would make progress in science and technology in order to become the first economic pole in the Middle East region, he said.

"Our enemies are determined to prevent us from attaining such a goal," he underlined.

Economic progress is the key to our independence, he said adding that "Our nation with access to scientific and technological know-how can make significant strides for progress," he said.

"We are determined to play crucial role in determining our own fate and administer all national affairs," said the commander.

Iran is capable enough to turn into the first scientific pole in medical sciences in the Middle East region as well, he underlined.
