Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel said here Sunday that the Iranian nation will insist on its legitimate right to pursue peaceful nuclear program.
Addressing the Majlis open-session, he denounced the anti-Iran resolution issued by the UN Security Council Saturday night.
Referring to massive turn-out of the Iranian nation in the December 15th elections, he said the massive participation of the Iranian people in the last Friday elections was an indication of their determination to defend their inalienable right to make use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
"The Islamic Consultative Assembly (Majlis) along with the Iranian nation condemns the anti-Iran resolution," he said adding that the resolution is politically motivated.
Haddad-Adel reiterated that the resolution exerts pressure on the Islamic Republic and the Iranian nation and is actually a reaction to independence-seeking attitude of the Iranians.
Referring to the double standard practices by certain international bodies including the UN Security Council, he said by adopting such policies no credit has been left for those bodies.
As to recent remarks made by the Zionist prime minister announcing that his country possesses nuclear bombs, Haddad-Adel regretted that no western government opposed such remarks, nor was any resolution issued against the Israeli regime.
However, the UN Security Council issued a resolution against Iran while the Islamic Republic has repeatedly announced that it has no intention of manufacturing nuclear weapons and that has left all its doors open to be inspected by inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), he added.
"As long as such injustice continues in the world, the globe will not witness peace and tranquility," he said.
