Larijani: Iran has no bomb

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Dubai, Dec 5, IRNA
Iran-Nuclear-Larijani
Iran has neither bomb nor is after nuclear weapons and it is only seeking its rights within framework of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), said Iran's top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani here on Tuesday.

Larijani said the US is raising such accusations in a bid to block Iran's access to nuclear technology and prevent Muslim states from attaining such a knowledge.

The Iranian official made the remark in an address to the fourth seminar of the Arab World Strategy 2006 here on Tuesday.

He said, "They should be confident that Iran will not give up its rights through such provocations and such approaches would not have a mere effect on Iran's endeavor to pursue nuclear technology." Reiterating that the US does not want Muslim states to have nuclear technology, Larijani said, "The US does not want Muslim states to have a share in global power."

The world unanimously believes in end of the era of fossil fuel and in fact, development and progress of states depend on confidence in possession of nuclear fuel and technology, he added.

The Iranian official said the US is discrediting the International Atomic Energy Agency and the UN Security Council just due to its ambitions.

"That's a judicial fiasco for the UN Security Council that a country pursuing nuclear research within the IAEA framework is put under pressure," he added.

The US is no longer the solution for global problems today, said Larijani, adding that presently, the US is itself a problem for the world and the Middle East region.

To get rid of Iraq and Middle East quagmires, the US has begun a dirty game, the so-called "Shiite-Sunni conflict" to make everybody dependent on itself.

As a big and powerful country, Iran has never been after bullying and has always been supportive to Muslim states, said Larijani, adding that in Iran's national security doctrine regional convergence and good-neighborliness have always been the principle.

The Iranian official said that since triumph of the Islamic Revolution, Iran has never had an eye on any country, rather it has been subject to tyranny and aggression and defended itself.

The fourth annual conference of Arab World Strategy 2006 opened in Dubai on Monday with participation of 22 world leaders and 32 industrial leaders.

More than 600 took part in the three-day meeting and 115 of them delivered addresses on strategic achievements of the Arab world.
