IAEA cooperation with world states not in contradiction with UNSC, Board of Governors resolutions

The secretariat of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) declared on Monday that the technical cooperation approved by is not in contradiction with the resolutions of the agency's Board of Governors or those of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

The remark was made at the first meeting of the IAEA Technical Cooperation Committee (TACC), which is currently underway in the Austrian capital of Vienna.

According to a statement issued by the IAEA secretariat on Monday, the projects which have been defined in Iran and approved by the agency's secretariat are not in contravention of the resolutions of the two specified bodies.

Meanwhile, Iranian Ambassador to IAEA Ali Asghar Soltanieh told IRNA that in his remarks about Arak nuclear project, IAEA deputy director general approved investigations of the agency's secretariat from technical and legal point of views and said that it is not at all against the resolutions of the Board of Governors and UNSC.

In response to the call of some member states who needed time to exchange ideas on the issue, the second round of the session is due to be held this afternoon.

The IAEA technical, scientific and financial aid to the agency's member states are on the agenda of the three-day TACC meeting.
