IRGC commander explains glories of Great Prophet (PBUH) maneuvers

Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi said on Sunday that the 10-day military exercises of IRGC named after Great Prophet (PBUH) displayed national resolve and military preparedness to defend the country.

He told reporters that the IRGC test fired modern military hardware being manufactured in Iran and are applied by the ground force, air force, navy and Basij (volunteer forces) under IRGC command.

Safavi described Great Prophet (PBUH) maneuver as 'Unique' in terms of diversity of capabilities and coordination of the four forces of the IRGC and getting involved in irregular war with the enemies.

He said that the ground forces, Basij, air force and navy set a precedent in military preparedness so that they got ready to take part in the maneuver within three days.

He said that the IRGC held the maneuvers in 14 provinces in an area of 730,000 square km with 1,400 km depth.

Safavi said that both the friends and enemies have got messages from the maneuver which presented Iranian defense strategy and deterrent power of the IRGC.

He said that 1,800 teams of the Basij infantry forces penetrated into territory of hypothetical enemy and returned to their own bases with applying guerrilla methods.

He said that Iranian anti-tank missiles are strong enough to destroy any kind of modern battle tanks and the bullets available for ground forces of the IRGC are pierce enough to penetrate into the anti-bullet vests.

He said that the exercise for planting mines in the sea by the gunboats was successfully carried out.

Safavi said that laser guided missiles from land to sea with 170 km range and surface-to-surface with 130 km range and artillery shells in high-multitude barrage and 75 km range were tested successfully.

He also pointed to the airborne operations carried out by the Basij in 14 provinces as the honorable features of the exercises.
