President deplores UN failure to contain bullying powers

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Sunday that the United Nations has failed to contain the bullying powers.

He said in his address to seventh conference of Association of Asian Parliaments for Peace (AAPP) which opened in Tehran that the US and British governments spend billions of dollars to produce weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) which have nothing to do with the welfare of the people, instead, they use them for intimidation and posing threat to international peace and security.

He said that the United Nations should give a response to why the occupying regime has been provided with stockpiles of WMDs while it refuses to sign up to Non-Proliferation Treaty and abide by international laws.

President Ahmadinejad condemned the nuclear weapons states for creating nuisance for Iranian nuclear program which has been designed merely to produce nuclear energy and said that they are anxious about losing their monopoly over production of fuel for power plants.

He deplored the fact that the bullying powers want the world nations to always look to them for meeting their needs.

It is a shame that the Security Council has turned into a means to serve the interests of the bullying powers instead of defending the rights of nations.

"World nations are critical of the current situation in the Security Council and the unjust order there."
He said that Asia is cradle of longstanding civilization and Asian parliaments are expected to promote international peace and security, advocate welfare for the people and lobby for ethics to be observed in the international community.

Ahmadinejad called for developing economic cooperation among Asian nations and campaign against international terrorism, drug and human trafficking and human.

He also called on Asian nations to adopt common stance vis-a-vis unilateral approach of world powers.
