Deputy Chairman to the Russian State Duma Artur Chilingrov said on Sunday that Iran's nuclear activities for peaceful purposes are within the framework of international laws and completely legal.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the General Assembly of the Association of Asian Parliaments for Peace (AAPP) in Tehran, he said that the ongoing event marks Iran's significance for the world peace and security.
Chilingrov underlined that Iran is determined to promote global peace.
He assessed Asia's current conditions as stable, despite existence of troubled spots in the continent, which are caused by some world powers.
"We are confident that our economic cooperation has a favorable prospect. Such meetings lay a good cornerstone for development of security across Asia and we can contribute towards UN activities. We can make the voice of Asian countries to be heard by the UN more often," he added.
The Russian Duma official said that the current problems facing Iraq show that the countries attempting to take measures beyond the UN framework will get nowhere.
Besides, he regretted that so many Palestinian people were killed in the missile attacks.
He underlined that the Russian president, government and Duma closely follow up developments in Asia.
Turning to Russia's good technical and scientific facilities as well as subterranean reserves, he declared his country's will to expand its economic relations with Asian states.
"We should play a good role in AAPP, given its impact on economy and politics. Russian Duma is prepared to take any measure for its Asian partners to promote peace and cooperation in various fields," he added.
Chilingrov referred to the policy of threat for solving world problems as unacceptable and called for equal rights for all Asian countries.
Stressing the role of AAPP, he said that Duma representatives will attempt to convert this association into a good instrument for promotion of peace, stability and confidence among countries.
