IRGC starts military exercises by test firing long-range missiles

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) started military exercise in the deserts near the holy city of Qom on Thursday by test firing a variety of missiles manufactured by Iranian defense industry affiliated to Ministry of Defense and Logistics of the Armed Forces.
IRNA reporter in Qom said that IRGC Commander Major General Rahim Safavi launched the 10-day military exercise in the name of Great Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
The maneuvers are being held to display Iranian defense capability in the field of missile industry.
Some 15 missiles, including those equipped with cluster warheads, and other types of missiles with ranges of between 300 km and 2,000 km were test fired on the first day of the maneuvers.
Different models of Shahab missiles with smart warheads for striking the targets and capable of evading anti-missile rounds to destroy them in mid-air were test fired.
The test fire was also to examine the modifications which has been made in Shahabs' smart system in terms of fixing angles degrees.
The maneuvers will be conducted in 10 provinces.
