Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Thursday that the draft resolution on Iran proposed by EU3 is against the goals of the so called 5+1 group.
He made the remark while speaking to reporters at a press conference in the northern city of Salekhard, adding that the draft will be examined according to Russia's approach to the issue.
"We aim to provide the necessary ground for resumption of nuclear talks with Iran, solve the issue through negotiations, support the ban on proliferation of nuclear weapons and protect the right of all NPT member states to access nuclear energy for peaceful purposes," he said.
The minister also urged the need to continue full communication with Iran, adding that Russia should eliminate the risk of Iran's access to sensitive technologies until the ambiguities raised by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) are clarified.
The draft resolution on Iran has been drawn up by France, Britain and Germany, which has been approved by the US. It was submitted to Russia and China on Wednesday.
Though Iran has fully remained committed to NPT, which has been certified by the IAEA, some sanctions are included in the draft resolution against Iran upon the insistence of the US.
