The morning daily, Jam-e Jam, in its note of the day on Monday attempts to seek the origin of discord among the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany (5+1 group).

Turning to the US failure to encourage the group to raise sanctions or threats against Iran in October 8 London Conference, which was not unexpected at all, it said that various causes account for it.

"It can be predicted that such causes, the US insistence and imposing such a hostile attitude on Iran on five members of the group by the US will prepare the ground for growing isolation of the US administration from international developments," said the article.

The daily added that at this point, it should be noted that the 5+1 group is not a single group from political and economic points of views.

"Therefore, their difference of opinions and interests minimize the chance of reaching a unanimous decision, which is not limited to Iran.

"However, Iran's particular stance in the region and the world of Islam, its geostrategic potentials, rational approach and compliance with international laws make decision-making highly sensitive and risky," it said.

Another morning daily, Resalat, in its editorial titled `Failure of Neo-Conservatives', said that the fruitless London Conference on Iran's nuclear issue, during which the 5+1 group member states expressed their relevant views, resulted in development of a new atmosphere on the international scene.

"The new atmosphere seems to give rise to two developments, namely overlooking the White House and official recognition of Iran as a powerful country.

"Given the formation of Paris-Moscow-Berlin triangle and growing opposition of Russia and China to interference of Washington in Central Asia and Far East, division of the 5+1 group was witnessed," it said.

Resalat said that four countries including Russia, China, Germany and France stand on one side, adding that the US and Britain stand on the opposite side.

"Beyond the reports released on the issue and the gap among the group's member states, the matter should be viewed with a more analytical approach. In other words, the specified gap among the members of 5+1 group should be analyzed more fundamentally." Seday-e Edalat, another morning daily, in its `word of the day' column titled `US Pressures for Sanction' analyzes the remarks of US Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Nicolas Burns at the London Conference.

"In the event, Burns expressed confidence that given Iran's refusal to suspend uranium enrichment, the United Nations Security Council is expected to consider sanction against Iran and issue a resolution on it.

"According to him, the question is no more whether sanction should be imposed on Iran, but that how severe it should be," added the daily.

Quoting Gulf Times, the article said while the US is getting prepared for anti-Iran sanction, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov talked about the similar approach of his country and China to the issue and that neither approve of sanctions against Iran.

"Lavrov added that both countries believe that Iran should be encouraged to resume talks. Earlier, the European Union Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana had also said that even if talks with Iran fail, they should continue," concluded the article.
