IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Sept 30, IRNA
Iran-President-Nuclear
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here Saturday that the Iranian nation is determined to gain its right to nuclear technology and that no one is authorized to deprive Iranians of such a legal and inalienable right.

The chief executive made the remark at the opening ceremony of the new academic year for universities and research and technology centers at Tehran University Saturday morning, while referring to the efforts of young Iranian scientists to access nuclear energy.

Turning to the necessity of nuclear energy in man's life in the present age, he said, "Given the world fossil fuel reserves are being rapidly depleted as well as high cost of this type of energy and its high environmental pollution rate, using nuclear energy is unavoidable.

"Iran's enemies, who are against the progress and development of the Iranian nation, oppose our access to nuclear energy on the pretext of development of nuclear weapons by Iran.

"They cannot witness the advancement of Iranian youth in science and technology. Therefore, under the excuse of Iran's possible deviation from nuclear path, they deny Iran's nuclear right," he added.

Ahmadinejad referred to negotiations between Iran and European states on the nuclear issue and said that they pressurize Iran to suspend its enrichment process even for a few days on the pretext of technical problems.

He underlined that the Iranian nation will not give up its right and that the officials in charge are bound to restore such a right through process of reasoning.

"Our adversaries are well aware that once Iran manages to access nuclear technology and turn into a world power, it will rapidly become a model for world countries.

"While the enemies are testing their second and third generation atomic bombs, they express anxiety over the possibility of Iran's deviation from peaceful nuclear path. This is while, the world nations should be concerned about their use of nuclear bombs," said the president.

Underlining the peaceful nature of the country's nuclear program, he said that all nuclear activities of Iran are transparent and the relevant installations are open to inspectors of the United Nations nuclear watchdog.

The president called on ministers of sciences, research and technology as well as health, treatment and medical training and chancellors of nationwide universities to arrange scientific tours of nuclear installations for students to give them an idea on the national achievements in the sector.

Stressing that the Iranian nation seeks peace and justice, he said that Iran's history is the best evidence that Iranians have always been seeking peace and that they have never launched aggression on any nation.

Ahmadinejad recommended Iran's enemies to have a friendly approach to the Iranian nation, given that they will get nowhere by threats and bullying.

Addressing the country's ill-wishers, he underlined, "You will never succeed in laying your hands on Iran, otherwise you would have already managed to do so."

The president said that the era of empires and bullying has ended in the world, adding that today intellect and culture dominate the world.
