The Non-Aligned Movement's member states ended their 14th summit here Saturday evening issuing a final document and a separate statement supporting Iran's peaceful nuclear activities.

Heads of state and government of 118 developing countries stressed the need for revitalizing the body so that it could play a more active role at the international arena as the largest global body after the United Nations.

In their statement on Iran, the non-aligned states backed Iran's "basic and inalienable right" to develop peaceful nuclear energy as a member of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

They also urged the Zionist regime "to accede to the NPT without delay and place promptly all its nuclear facilities under
comprehensive safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)".

In their final statement, the NAM members denounced dominance of unilateralism and a unipolar system in the world calling the developing states to stay united against the trend.

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who represented Asian states in the summit, is to leave Havana later on Sunday at the end of his four-day stay in Cuba.

While in Cuba, he attended the NAM summit (Sept 15-16) and held separate meetings with his counterparts from other NAM member states on the sidelines of the summit.

The president also participated in a meeting of the G-15.

Ahmadinejad will head for Venezuela on an official invitation of his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chavez.

His visit to Venezuela would be the last phase of a three-nation tour which started last Wednesday with a nine-hour visit to Senegal.

The president, however, will not be returning to Iran at the end of his visit to Venezuela.

He will proceed to New York to attend the 61st annual session of the United Nations General Assembly on Sept 19-27.

He is also scheduled to address the session and meet leaders of various countries on the sidelines of the world gathering.
