FM spokesman: Negotiations best way out of nuclear standoff

Iran believes that negotiation is the only way out of its current nuclear standoff with the West, said new Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini on Thursday. He was commenting on recent remarks by the US State Department spokesman Sean McCormack who accused Iran of wasting time and called on Tehran to stop its uranium enrichment activities.

According to the Foreign Ministry Press and Information Center, Hosseini said that US was stepping up its pressures to disturb present atmosphere against Iran and derail the current trend of Iran's nuclear talks (with the Europe).

"The US is seeking to advance its own goals in a threatening and bullying manners," said the spokesman, adding that Washington was "to poison the atmosphere of nuclear talks and derail it through its anti-Iran propaganda."
He reiterated that Tehran was committed to continue negotiations in order to maintain its legitimate and indisputable nuclear rights.

Stressing that both Iran and other parties were in favor of resolving the case through dialogue, Hosseini referred to the support of the Non-Aligned Movement's (NAM) member states for Tehran's peaceful nuclear activities.

The 116-nation body on Wednesday declared its support for unconditional talks on Iran's nuclear issue to come up with a long-term solution.

"The support of NAM member states was a warning to the US to avoid making itself further isolated by exerting more pressures and insisting on its incompatible positions," said the spokesman.

He advised Washington "To be more patient" if it was to prove its honesty in supporting the path of negotiations and diplomacy for finding a solution to Iran's nuclear case.
