Iran-US-Khatami
Provisional Friday Prayer Leader of Tehran Seyyed Ahmad Khatami here in his second sermon advised the Europeans not to permit the Americans to pull their legs.
Addressing thousands of Tehrani worshipers, referring to the beginning of the new round of Iran-EU nuclear negotiations he emphasized, "You Europeans have so far been cheated by the US a coupe of times, but it seems as if you have not got the necessary lesson yet."
Addressing the Europeans, he added, "During the Persian Gulf War they (the Americans) dragged you (Europeans) after themselves to that war, but when time came for dividing the war booties you noticed that the United States considered absolutely no share for you!" The Friday preacher of Tehran added, "During the 33-day brave resistance of Hezbollah in confrontation with Israel, too, you obeyed the US orders and danced to the tune played by Washington. But as Hezbollah emerged victoriously, you ended up as ashamed as the Americans did."
Khatami reiterated, "The nuclear issue is the third such challenge, and if you would one more time yield to US pressure and dance to their tune you would be considered as US accomplices." The provisional Friday prayer leader of Tehran emphasizing that the system's officials are after safeguarding its interests prestigiously, said, "US economic sanctions are nothing new. We have been under US sanctions during the course of the past twenty-seven years. Note washington is after pulling you Europeans' legs into this plot."
Addressing the European nations, he advised them to convince their statesman that it is beneath their dignity to be US salves worth slavery rings on their earlobes.
He emphasized, "Today the Americans have put the yoke of slavery in the necks of their friends and keep pulling that yoke to any direction they desire, regardless of their free wills, but that is beneath the dignity of the EU nations that boast about being freedom loving peoples."
Arguing that the Iranians create golden opportunities for themselves out of various crises, he said, "Be sure if you would impose sanctions against us the biggest losers would be yourselves, not the Islamic Iran."
Addressing the Americans, too, Khatami said, "You keep repeating that even if the UN Security Council would not impose any sanctions against us you would do so unilaterally. But is that not what you have been doing during the course of the past twenty-seven years, failing in achieving any of your damned objectives? We rely on God's grace and from now on, too, you would not be able of doing any damned thing!"
Focusing on Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maleki's recent visit, the interim Friday prayer leader said, "Top Iranian officials emphasized on the point that they consider the well being, security, and advancement of the Iraqi nation as the well being and advancement of themselves and that Iran feels committed to back up the Iraqi nation in their path towards practical advancement."
He reiterated, "The United States is seriously after weakening Prime Minister Maleki's popular government by backing up the terrorists in Iraq, fomenting tension there, and sowing the seeds of discord among followers of various religions and different tribes, to an extent that the people would get fed up and cease supporting their own government."
Khatami said, "The truth is that so long as the occupiers keep on their lingering presence in Iraq the problems, too, would remain unsolved there," adding, "That is because the occupiers themselves are the creators of problems, not assistants in solving them." The Friday preacher of Tehran said, "They are not only not capable of ridding the Iraqi nation of the terrorists, but also the plotters of instability and insecurity in Iraq.
He reiterated, "Therefore, the only path towards grandeur and prosperity for the Iraqis passes through the exit of the occupiers from that ancient and long-lasting land."
Focusing on Lebanon development, Khatami said, "As the Supreme Leader had predicted, the enemies are after sowing the seeds of discord among the different groups of the Lebanese nation, and the satanic hands of the Americans and the British are easily seen in that plot. He set example of the recent visit of that country by British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
He confirmed the remark made by Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, who has said that certain grouplets are acting as US agents in Lebanon by insisting on demand from Hezbollah to be disarmed.
Reacting to Pope Bendict XVI's anti-Islamic remaks, too, Khatami expressed regret that the leader of world Catholics is so ignorant of the reality of Islam.
