Iran-Asefi-Nuclear
Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi rejected on Sunday the idea that Iran nuclear case has reached a deadlock.
"There are two options (for dealing with Iran nuclear case).
First is negotiations and second is the United Nations Security Council. We, of course, prefer the first option," Asefi told domestic and foreign reporters at his weekly press briefing.
Asefi in his last press conference in the capacity of Foreign Ministry spokesman added the UNSC option "will have negative consequences for Europe.
"Even China and Russia, (two veto-wielding members of the council), have emphasized that the first option (negotiations) should be taken," Asefi added.
Referring to suspension of Iran uranium enrichment activities as a precondition for resumption of nuclear talks), the spokesman said "The era of suspension is over."
"The question of the suspension (of uranium enrichment) is a thing of the past. Iran will not take a step back," stressed the official.
He added, "If the Europeans have points of view (about suspension) we are ready to hear them, but we, too, have questions to ask," Asefi stressed.
