President: Problems can be solved through dialogue

Iran-Ahmadinejad-Dialogue
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a meeting with the President of inter-Parliamentary Union Pier Ferdinando Casini here Sunday said that problems can be solved and agreement can be reached through talks, unless some parties are determined to promote injustice and insist on cruelty.

At the meeting, the chief executive noted that Iran's rational approach to international issues is based on dialogue and talks.

Turning to Iran as a country which has suffered greatest losses during the Middle East wars, he said that it has created neither crisis nor insecurity.

The president referred to the numerous problems facing the world of today, he said that peace and tranquility can only be established by solving the roots of problems, which requires an approach based on justice and respect for human dignity.

"By continuing their post-World War II relations, the US and Britain intend to sow the seeds of discord among independent countries such as European and Middle East states. Thus they aim to protect their own illegitimate interests from any harm.

"On account of being neighbors, European and Middle East countries have had historical ties. Besides, they have many common interests, one of which is security," he added.

Ahmadinejad said that similar to the approach of some European states towards Iraq and Lebanon, these countries should contribute to promotion of peace and security in the Middle East and world based on justice.

Stating that international relations are currently unfavorable, he urged the need to strengthen the UN to promote justice in all world countries.

"As far as the US continues threatening its opponents by making instrumental use of the United Nations and considers itself as the prosecutor and judge of the UN, this organization will not be sufficiently efficient and will obviously fail to promote peace, tranquility and stability in the world or fulfill its tasks," added the president.

For his part, Casini underlined Iran's decisive role in the Middle East and said, "The international community needs Iran for promotion of peace and tranquility. Coming up with a solution for the Middle East problems without Iran's role can hardly be imagined.

The president of the Inter-Parliamentary Union pointed to multilateralism and said strengthening the UN is one way to eliminate the current difficulties facing the world.

"Meanwhile, the US has accepted that its unilateralism, for instance in case of Iraq, did not lead to any positive outcome, given its failure to establish stability and security in this country," concluded Casini.
