Larijani: Iran willing to hold positive, constructive talks

Iran's top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani on Friday reiterated Iran's willingness for positive and constructive talks with Europe.

In a 1.5-hour meeting with Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi, Larijani welcomed positive and constructive role of Europe, especially Italy, in guaranteeing stability and tranquility in the Middle East and said Iran is ready to strengthen active roles of Europe and Italy n the region and prepare effective ground for fulfillment of the role.

He said Iran is prepared for serious and all-out talks with the 5+1 Group on all mutually relevant issues, including nuclear issue.

He hoped that future talks with the EU Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana on the issue would be fruitful.

Prodi called Iran as a country having significant role in regional peace and stability and said Tehran's determination for talks and settlement of the nuclear problem until reaching a positive result is raiseworthy.

Larijani and Prodi in their talks also stressed importance of all-out mutual cooperation, discussing regional developments, especially those in Lebanon and Palestine.

The Iranian official is in Italy on the second leg of his three-nation tour of Europe after visiting Spain.
