Lawmaker: Iran studying P5+1 proposed package

A lawmaker said on Sunday the P5+1 proposed package is being studied.

In a meeting with French Ambassador to Tehran Bernard Poletti here on Sunday, head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Alaeddin Boroujerdi welcomed Europe's willingness to engage in nuclear talks with Tehran and hoped that the issue would be solved on the basis of international regulations and within framework of mutual interests, as talks on the issue follow their logical course.

Borujerdi said Iran is entitled to peaceful use of nuclear technology per paragraph four of NPT and the third article of the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) safeguards.

"Iran will never give up its legal and legitimate right," he said, while recalling the positive record of Iran's cooperation with IAEA and the repeated and extensive inspections of its facilities by the Agency as well as a 2.5-year suspension of all the activities.

Poletti said Iran's legitimate right to peaceful use of nuclear energy needs to be respected.

He voiced pleasure with Iran's positive approach towards the P5+1 package, hoping that Iran's response to the offer will soon pave the way for talks and mutual understanding.
