Water treatment system of Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant to be set up

The report released by Atom Stroi Export Co. on Saturday said that the system is one of the major components of a nuclear power plant, adding that according to the relevant timetable, its installation is predicted to be completed by August 31.
"At present, experts are regulating the equipment of the system such as special ion exchange filters, which is expected to produce refined water by the end of June," it added.
The report has also pointed to the special chemical laboratory of the power plant's treatment section, which is due to be set up by the Russian specialists.
Iranian experts are going through special training to operate the water treatment system.
The implementation of water treatment system project is a measure taken at the the primary phase of the project which will be followed by those related to the commissioning of the first unit of Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant.
The project currently underway is based on a one-billion-dollar agreement signed by Iran and Russia.
Based on the latest agreement reached between the two sides, Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant was expected to become operational in the current year, but Russia has declared that it will come on stream in 2007.
