Iran-Soltanieh-Nuclear
Iran's ambassador and envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Ali-Asghar Soltanieh said that non-interference of the United Nations Security Council in Iran's nuclear issue and return of the dossier to the UN nuclear watchdog is the only proper way to solve the remaining minor points.
Speaking at the IAEA Board of Governors meeting on Thursday morning, he said that Iran is prepared to enter into talks without any preconditions to clarify any possible ambiguities and solve the trivial matters.
"Once the assessment of the received proposal is completed, we will inform the European Union (EU) of our views," he added.
Elsewhere in his talks, he said that an active diplomacy is currently underway to this end, including exchange of views with the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) member states, EU, Russia and China, adding that this is a clear sign of Iran's political will to find a just solution to the issue through talks.
Soltanieh said that the Iranian government is also determined to continue cooperation with the IAEA according to the associated letter of association and its commitments within the framework of NPT's Safeguard Agreement.
"Besides, we are intent on keeping a balance between our inalienable rights and commitments. We will also attempt to pave the way for negotiations on the issue," he added.
He underlined that at the same time there is a high expectation that unnecessary and harsh approaches that may disrupt the dominating relatively calm atmosphere and endanger the new multifaceted diplomacy will be avoided.
Turning to Iran's voluntary measures over the past three years, he said, "The IAEA Board of Governors is expected to remove the nuclear issue from its agenda in the shortest possible time." The diplomat appreciated "NAM's constant precious support" for Iran's nuclear program and pointed to it as a clear reflection of the views of 116 member states, namely the international community, on the issue.
