Iran-Soltanieh-ElBaradei
Iran's ambassador and envoy to the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency Ali-Asghar Soltanieh said here Monday that the remarks of the UN nuclear watchdog's chief, Mohamed ElBaradei, were unbiased and constructive.
During his keynote address in the Board of Governors seasonal meeting in Vienna, ElBaradei welcomed the recent efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive accord on the confidence of the
international community in the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear programs.
Meanwhile, the secretary general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) called for Iran's cooperation to solve the remaining problems.
Speaking to IRNA, Soltanieh hoped that the resolve for cooperation will dominate the Board of Governors' working atmosphere and that diplomatic efforts will not be overshadowed to enable the agency to continue its activities without being impressed by political concerns.
The 35-member Board of Governors opened its seasonal meeting in Vienna, Austria on Monday.
Although ElBaradei will be presenting a three-page report on Iran's nuclear program to members of the board, diplomats said no resolutions will be passed despite the fact that Iran's nuclear issue is on the agenda.
Europe's latest offer to Tehran to resolve the nuclear standoff will be discussed with the aim of reaching a common ground for dealing with the dispute that will satisfy both sides.
Last week, the six powers -- China, Russia, US, France and England plus Germany offered Iran economic and security incentives on condition it stop uranium enrichment and resume negotiations on its nuclear activities.
The IAEA seasonal meeting will also focus on issues including technical cooperation, the agency's report for the year 2005 and implementation of safeguard agreements with the IAEA.
The IAEA Board of Governors may raise the issue of Iran's nuclear activities on Wednesday.
