Iran-Solana-Nuclear
European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana here Tuesday expressed hope Iran would give a positive response to the latest proposal of the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany (5+1 Group) for resolving its nuclear case.
Solana, who arrived here Monday evening, made the remarks while speaking to reporters after a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.
Representatives of the five permanent members of the Security Council -- Russia, China, the United States, Britain and France -- plus Germany (5+1 Group) met in Vienna, Austria on Thursday and approved a package of incentives for Iran in exchange for suspension of its nuclear activities.
Solana, who formally presented the EU offer for Iran to Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Secretary Ali Larijani, described talks with the latter as "good" and praised the current atmosphere of negotiations.
He expressed hope the proposal would meet the two sides' demands.
Asked by a reporter to give details on the proposals, he said these are now on the table and called on the media to avoid prejudging them and any likely response.
