MP: US expected to do away from precondition for talks

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, June 1, IRNA
Iran-US-Parliament
Rapporteur of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Kazem Jalali said on Thursday the US is expected to do away from preconditions in the talks offer.

He told IRNA that the US officials should also respect Iran's right in the context of Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), so favorable grounds will be prepared for talks.

Jalali added that in that case the logjam in Tehran-washington relations will be removed.

"Basically, the proposal for Iran-US talks proves the stability of the Iranian governing system and indicating that any US attempt for regime change is doomed.

"The US is seeking to form an international consensus against Iran. It has now resorted to the `offer for talks' as a means to this end, while the offer is being overshadowed by a precondition," added Jalali.

MP from Shahroud said that the US has actually failed to form a consensus against Iran's nuclear program, adding that they have not even succeeded to change the views of China, Russia and some other European countries on the issue.

Turning to the US Iraq scandal caused by its failure to locate weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, he said, "Today, a serious challenge by the world public opinion is facing the US. Besides, the US has failed to get anywhere with its propaganda campaign that Iran is seeking nuclear bomb."
The MP said that Iranian compliance with NPT and Safeguards Agreement of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has practically deprived the US of forming an anti-Iran consensus.
